Directions and instructions
At the entrance to Mottaret keep left at the mini-roundabout and go through a tunnel (If you accidentally turn right you will ahead uphill towards Le Hameau.) The tunnel is three short sections – the first under the pistes, the second is under the Mont Vallon hotel – and then a third short section. This takes you to the Le Chatelet part of Mottaret. In the dark it can seem like one long tunnel.
In the tunnel, after the entrance to the Mont Vallon Hotel and just before the third section, there is a left turn up into the basement of Le Pralin. You can off load in the basement and take the lifts up to the apartment. The apartment is on the 8th floor. Take the first lift up to the sixth floor and then walk along the corridor and take the lift or stairs to the eighth floor. Turn right out of the last lift and right along the corridor until you reach apartment 812.
Parking: Exit the basement and continue through the section of tunnels and you will arrive at a small roundabout . The first exit takes you into the (free) car park– you can leave your car here for the week or park outside Huit-a-huit supermarket which should be in front of you.
Having parked go up the metal steps on the left of Huit-a-Huit supermarket (or the path up to the right).
Continue along the walkway with a shops on your right:
Intersport ski hire shop
Ski Shop Mottaret
La Brizolee restaurant
Luxury gift shop
Le Rastro pub
La Terrace restaurant
and then the entrance to Le Pralin.
There is no formal check-in but the apartment will be ready no later than 4pm on Saturday. If the apartment is ready before this time then you may occupy the apartment earlier on the Saturday.
the ski box key should be in the apartment - in the kitchen hatch (please leave it here at the end). The ski box room is next to reception (or through the right-hand entrance as you enter Le Pralin.
The ski boxes are not really big enough to hold four sets of boots as well as skis, so you can leave boots in the apartment but please take dirty shoes/boots off before going into the apartment. Ski boots can be kept a cupboard in the apartment. Please do not bring skis into the apartments – they leave rust stains at the bottom of the skis where snow melts and runs down the skis and onto the carpet. – So if you have to bring skis in, then dry them first and put something under the tips to protect the carpet. Please note that skis should be insured, as the ski boxes are not totally secure.
The electricity should be on. If it is off then the electricity box is on the wall behind the door at head height. There is building wifi provided by Pierre et Vacances - I have successfully paid for this in the past but it is probably best to upgrade your own data plan.
Turn the handle 180degress so it points vertically down. This lifts the door and it is then possible to slide open the door. Please do not try to open the door by pulling on the bottom of the handle or whilst the handle is not exactly vertically down.
The building has a centrally controlled underfloor heating system. If there is a sudden drop in temperature then the apartment heaters may be needed. These have an on/off switch and a temperature thermostat dial on them.
The living room sofa bed can be slept on as a single or the bottom section pulls out and lifts up so a double can be formed. There are two single duvets for the sofa bed. The bunks each have a single duvet. Please bring your own sheets and towels.
The closest ski hire shop is Superski which is to the left of the entrance area as you come into the building and can be accessed directly from reception. Please use my code 'mottaret-vip' to ensure you get the largest possible discount on online bookings of skis. http://www.mottaret.com/superski/
Please ensure that you clean the apartment at the end of your stay ready for the next guests. Cleaners do not come in after you. Please ensure the apartment is ready by about 1pm on Saturday.
